2. Is DFAS Cleveland going to fund the Spring Seminar?

Funding is up to individual offices in DFAS Cleveland. Please check with your manager concerning funding issues.

3. What is the registration process?

DFAS EMPLOYEES: Download a copy of the form from the Registration page and give to your supervisor.

NON-DFAS EMPLOYEES: Follow you employer's process then from the Registration page click on On-Line form. After filling out the form "submit" it and it will take you to the payment instruction page. If you wish you may download a hardcopy form which you may fill out and mail it with your payment to:

4. How can I confirm that my registration went through?

If after you submitted the registration form, you were transferred to a “Thank You” page, you registration went through. You will also be notified via email a few days before the conference about downloading presentations.

5. Something came up and I cannot attend.

Inform your supervisor then send an email to PDC@agacleveland.org . If someone is taking you place, let us know so we can remove your name from our list and have them fill out the registration form.

6. My organization cannot pay for my attendance to the Spring Seminar until afterwards. Will this be a problem?

No one will be admitted to the Spring Seminar without payment. You may bring payment with you (i.e. cash, check). If you show up with no payment and payment was not made in advance, you will not be granted access to the Spring Seminar.

7. I have several interns who are shadowing members of our office and would like to attend the conference but will not be earning CPEs and will not stay for lunch. Can I bring them?

Due to capacity limitations and the contract with the hotel, only individuals who paid for the conference fee can attend.

8. I see that AGA/ASMC is giving out a scholarship. What do I need to do to be considered for this scholarship?

The AGA Cleveland chapter annual gives out a scholarship to a deserving student using the strict criteria set-up by AGA National. It is open to anyone who is current taking college classes. You do not have to be an AGA member or even work for the government to be eligible. AGA Cleveland members are notified via email where to get information to apply for this scholarship. 9. I noticed past recipients of the scholarship do not work for the government. Why are these individuals getting scholarships?

This scholarship is open to any well deserving student. No preferential treatment is given to government workers and/or AGA members. Further information and criteria are posted at, Scholarship page .

10. Why are so many of the sessions geared to DFAS employees?

While we realize we have a diverse group of individuals from the public sector attending these seminars, over 85% of the attendees are Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) employees and 90% are with the federal government. When we schedule a session that is of interest to DFAS employees and/or federal government, we try to schedule the other session to be of general interest.

11. I noticed some introducers wearing Bluetooth devices, is this really necessary?

Yes it is. We have several key volunteers working the floor who may need to be reached for items requiring their immediate attention. Finding anyone quickly at a crowded conference is never easy and it is impossible to hear a cell phone ring or feel it vibrate (and may not be desirable while the sessions are ongoing) so the Bluetooth device a solution for us to stay in constant communication with these individuals so we may serve you better.

12. When will I get my certificate stating I earned 8 CPEs?

CPE certificates will be given out the day of event.

13. Why do I see some of the same speakers back for another year?

Some of “repeat” speakers are asked back because people rated their session high and some attendees even requested the speaker participate at future Spring Seminars speakers.
