New Audio Conference Set: Risk Assessments for Performance Auditing AGA, in conjunction with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) and the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), is pleased to announce a new audio conference addressing Risk Assessments for Performance Auditing. Mark your calendars for 2 – 3:50 p.m. EDT, Thursday, Sept. 14.

A risk-based audit approach affords a comprehensive and cost-effective assessment of management’s system of controls and procedures to ensure program compliance, economy, efficiency and effectiveness. The objectives of the risk-based approach are to: identify the controls and procedures that management must provide to prevent, eliminate or minimize threats of fraud, waste and abuse; determine the probability that non-compliance could occur; and assess the internal control structure in accordance with SAS 55 and 78.

To discuss these issues at the local, state and federal government levels are Beth Ashcroft, MBA, CIA, Director of the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability for the State of Maine, and Gerald Silva, CGFM, CPA, City Auditor for the City of San Jose, CA.

Please join us for two hours of lively discussion about this important and timely topic. In addition to the speakers' presentations, there will be 20 minutes for Q & A so that the participants can ask the speakers questions as well as share their own experiences.
