February 23, 2005 Mr. Bob Wilhelm from the Ohio State Auditor's Office gave a presentation on State Auditing Issues.
We were honored that Bobby Derrick, CGFM, our AGA National President spoke at our March 30, 2005 luncheon. His topic was Leadership - Making a Dfference.

The guest speaker For February 2006 was Charles Grimm, a Financial Advisor from Merrill Lynch. He addressed "A New Way of Looking at Retirement."

Past Presentations

The speaker for our first lunch of the new program years was Mr. Ken Sweitzer, CGFM, Director, Accounting Services-Navy and DFAS Cleveland Senior Site Representative. Ken related the business challenges that DFAS faces in the aftermath of BRAC, and the realignments and business transformation efforts necessary to continue DFAS' vital mission.
The guest speaker for October 2005 luncheon was Mayor Tom Perciak of Strongsville. The Mayor presented a non-political view of the past, present, and future financial health of his city.
Congressman LaTourette was the guest speaker for the November 2005. He spoke about what it was like to be behind the scenes of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)/DFAS crusade.
The Vice President of the Government Advocacy, Carol Caruso,spoke about Cleveland Tomorrow: Economic Development Projects that will shape the City’s Future.

May 2006 guest speaker was Gus Katsas from the Purchasing Division of the Cleveland Metroparks. He addressed "Cleveland Metroparks - one and a half million years in the making."

Robert Bilbrey of Booz Allen Hamilton was the featured speaker for the first speaker of the new program year, September 2006. The topic discussed at the luncheon was on The Impact of OMB A-123 on Federal Agencies.

Defense Finance and Accounting Service's own Jeff Yokel spoke on Business Integration Presentation for the October 2006 luncheon.

George Carr, an attorney in private practice at Gallagher Sharp's Cleveland office, spoke at the January 2007 luncheon about "Common Errors in Business Writing".

The Guest Speaker for the month of November 2006 was Professor Glenn Blair from Baldwin-Wallace College. Professor Blair's topic was "Humor in Business"

We were honored to have the AGA National President, Jeff Hart speak at our February 2007 luncheon. Mr. Harts discussed how being an AGA member can do for you in terms of education, networking, and promotion opportunities.

The Treasuer of Cuyahoga County, Jim Rokakis was our speaker on March 28, 2007. He spoke about the foreclosure crisis in Cuyahoga County.

Thomas Huth, from Alternet Inc. was our October 2009 speaker. This topic was "Negotiating Skills for Managers, Employees and Everyday Life".

Tom Murphy, DFAS Director of Component Solutions, spoke on September 24, 2008 with his topic, ERP Overview.

The last luncheon of the 2009-2010 program year was Jeff Lanzen, Business Development Coordinator, from Century Federal Credit Union and his topic was "Achieving Credit Excellence"

The first luncheon of the 2010-2011 program year was Allen Fritz, DFAS Site Support Office (SSO) and his topic was "Site Support"

We had a joint AGA/ASMC luncheon on October 20, 2010 with Frank LaRose who talked about "Payroll: Perspective of a Defense Finance and Account Service Customer"

Our November 17, 2010, luncheon was with Karl Bernhardt, Director, Disbursing Operations, DFAS Cleveland who spoke on "Accountability in Disbursing Operations"

We had our first luncheon at the DoubleTree Hotel on January 26, 2011. Our luncheon speaker was with Ed Blair, Program Director, Defense Business Operations DirectorateNavy General Fund and Marine Corps Financial Statements Division, who spoke on "Challenges of a First Year Financial Statement Audit"

Our luncheon speaker on February 23, 2011, was Lauri Molnar, Program Nonprofit Organization Hattie Larlham, The Bakery at Hattie's Cafe/Hattie Larlham, who spoke on "A Stronger Diverse Workforce"

Our luncheon speaker on March 31, 2011, was Jeffrey Johnson, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, who spoke on "Operation Iraqi Freedom: How the accountants impacted the outcome"

Our last luncheon included a tour of the NASA Glenn Research Center on May 20, 2011.

Our speaker for the first luncheon of the 2011-2012 program year was David Morgan from the FBI. The luncheon was held on September 28, 2011.

The October 26, 2011 speaker was Mark Dodosh from Crain's Cleveland Business whose topic was, " Northeast Ohio: Where We Are and Where We Are Going".
